Great con, everyone! As you know, the official attendence was 275, and we raised $1,500 for our charity, Ferrets Unlimited. We are pleased to announce that Ferrets Unlimited will be our chosen charity for Morphicon 2009, as well. Plans are already in the works for Morphicon 2009. We will have the same space as this past year, (Yes, I know I said we might have the Ballroom as well, but frankly, we don't need it yet, and the additional cost makes it prohibitive for next year. 2010, maybe....we'll see.) and the same hotel, since we all seem to get along famously. Next year's theme is "Inner City Critters" and we already have chosen our first Guest of Honor, Joey-Poey! You can see his work at http://www.furaffinity.net/user/joey-poey. We will make other announcements as decisions are made and invitations accepted. As soon as we have a signed contract with the hotel, we will open online registration for the convention and add links to the hotel to make room reservations. AN IMPORTANT REQUEST!!! Morphicon and other conventions are experiencing a problem with attendees making room reservations and not picking up their keys, either because they could not attend, or because they obtained other room accomodations. We request that if you decide not to attend, or you get other arrangements for lodging, please, Please, PLEASE cancel your room reservation as soon as possible, so that space can be used by someone else! The sooner the better! This is very important, as the amount the convention has to pay the hotel is based on the number of room nights attendees actually use. Yes, we did have problems with people getting locked out of the con rate, and this is being addressed with the hotel. We will do our very best to have the con rate available to everyone who wants a room with easy access to all convention activity. Please help us as well by cancelling your reservation as far ahead of the convention as you can, if it is not going to be used. That said, we will be keeping you informed of events which will be occuring throughout the year, including our annual float in the Pride Parade, the annual picnic, and the Woolybear Parade, as well as other events. Oh! Speaking of which, we are in need of additional people on staff to help make Morphicon 2009 an even bigger success than this year. We are in need of a Web Designer, and a Publicity Director, to name two. The Web Designer is needed to create attractive web pages for Morphicon 2009, as well as pages for our online convention store, where people can order items such as t-shirts and copies of previous convention DVDs. If you are interested in this position, please send me a sample of your work and experience. We really want our website to be top notch. The Publicity Director will be responsible for spreading the word about Morphicon to people interested in attending. This includes distributing fliers to every single furry convention we can, at least in the continental U.S., as well as local sci-fi cons, anime cons, and other events which are likely to have people interested in attending Morphicon. This person will be responsible for arranging ad trades with other cons, gathering fliers for our goodie bag from other convention, and having our flier in theirs. WHEN: Morphicon 2009 will be held the weekend of May 15-17, the weekend after Mothers Day and the weekend before Memorial Day. THEME: Morphicon 2009's theme is "Inner City Critters" GOHs: We're happy to announce our first Guest of Honor to Morphicon 2009 will be furry artist Joey Poey.
