Masquerade
Here at Morphicon, we celebrate fursuiting by awarding quality construction and performance. In fact, Morphicon is one of the few furry cons to have a competitive masquerade judged by experienced costumers.
Awards
Fursuit builders and performers can compete at the following levels, based on their age or experience. Awards are given for both construction and performance at each of the following levels:
- Juvenile -- minor under 18 years of age
- Novice -- amateur who has never won a costuming award
- Journeyman -- amateur who has won previous Novice awards
- Master -- Professional costumer, or an amateur who has won numerous past awards
All fursuit builders are encouraged to enter their creations for a construction award. However, even if your fursuit was purchased or built by someone else, you can still enter for a performance award. Both builders and performers are eligible for the additional "Best in Show" and "Best Use of Con Theme" awards.
The awards are designed to fit with each year's theme, so they are good memorabilia. For the 2010 "State Fair" theme, blue ribbons were handed out. For the 2011 Wonderland theme, pen-and-ink artwork from the original Alice in Wonderland book was used.
